Climate change and rising sea levels are a very real factor in the lives of the people who live on Papa Westray. We aim to raise awareness of our relation to the sea and the changes happening within it. We will set up a temporary Papay shoreline research station, a centre for island habitat information gathering and, with a group of island diy scientists, will set out to investigate and survey the shoreline in exciting and fun ways.

April offers the tail end of winter wildlife, with the excitement of the very start of spring migration and a fresh, breezy look at the habitats of Papay as the soil slowly begins to warm and the short summer is in the offing.

The Arctic Terns known locally as Pickies are a much-loved feature of Papa Westray. Whilst the Pickies are the main focus for this break, the dates couldn't be better for seeing a range of other wonderful wildlife.

The maritime heath of North Hill - a one-inch high sward of flowers, of global conservation importance - will be celebrated on this Papay Wildlife Club holiday. Appreciation of the likes of Scottish Primrose (Primula scotica) will be complemented by time to study Papa Westray's seabird cliffs and perhaps even a visit to the Holm of Papay.

Soak in the island atmosphere while learning about the rich range of birds that breed around our coasts. Papay is the perfect place for this, thanks to the diversity and accessibility of the local seabird population. This holiday is for everyone who enjoys birds, whether you have been birding for a few years, or if you are an absolute beginner who just wants to know more.
